Camping at Banks

Camping at Banks is a small, back to basics campsite for walkers and cyclists (no vehicles) on the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail.

In addition to space for tents we also have – new for 2022! – a shepherds hut shelter. The hut sleeps 3 people in a double and single bunk (the single has restricted head space so better for small people). There are mattresses but no bedding so you’ll need your own sleeping bag. The hut has a stove for warmth and heating water.

For both campers and those staying in the shepherds hut, we have a compost loo and two outside sinks with drinking water…and that’s it! There is no shower.

Camping – £5 per person per night

Shepherds hut – £50 per night single occupancy; £55 double; £60 triple.

You can find us about 200m from the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail path in the village of Banks.

If you are using one of the baggage transfer companies operating along Hadrian’s Wall please ask for pick up and drop off from Quarry Side which is across the road from Newgate House (where the campsite is).
